INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME 2023/24. The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) is dedicated to equipping young graduates with knowledge, skills, and exposure to market conduct regulation and supervision, as well as its role in the economy.

To achieve this, the FSCA has developed a structured internship programme designed to produce a pipeline of competent new entrants in the labour market, while also assisting the FSCA in delivering on its mandate to transform the integrity of financial markets, protect financial customers by promoting fair treatment by financial institutions, and provide financial education while maintaining financial stability.

The roll-out plan of the internship programme involves identifying and recommending suitable candidates who will have the opportunity to learn under the supervision of a dedicated mentor. Interns will be assigned to a specific division within the FSCA based on their qualifications and career aspirations. During the one-year internship programme, interns will be exposed to various competency-based training to enhance their skills and knowledge in their respective areas of specialization.

The FSCA is committed to increasing the representation of marginalized groups in line with its Employment Equity Plan, and therefore encourages persons with disabilities to apply.

Interns will have the opportunity to be placed in various areas within the FSCA, including Facilities, Market Abuse Investigations, Prudential Supervision, Consumer Education, Governance Risk and Assurance, Disclosure, Advertising and Market Analysis, Data Analysis, Fund Governance and Trustee Conduct, Enforcement, Banks and Payment Providers, Conduct Supervision, ICT: Data and Analytics, Retirement Fund Reviews and Authorizations, among others. This provides a diverse range of opportunities for interns to gain valuable experience and exposure in their chosen fields.

The duration of the internship programme is one year, with a non-renewable contract. It is important to note that correspondence and communication will only be conducted with shortlisted candidates, and the FSCA reserves the right not to appoint if a suitable candidate is not identified.

To be eligible for the internship programme, applicants must be South African citizens with a valid South African Identity Document. Applicants are required to submit their Curriculum Vitae (CV) along with certified copies of their qualifications. It is also important to note that applicants must have no prior work experience and should have a strong desire to work in the financial services sector.
