Position: Laboratory Technician
Responsibilities:
Research, Develop, and Review Alternative Products and Processes:
- Conduct tests and analyses of alternative products and processes to determine their viability and effectiveness.
- Make suitable recommendations based on the results obtained from the testing and analysis.
Quality Assurance:
- Identify non-conformances in manufacturing processes and take corrective actions to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Take representative samples from manufacturing process lines to ensure quality control.
Laboratory Testing:
- Execute sampling of bituminous binder material for testing purposes.
- Determine the pH of liquids using a pH meter.
- Conduct laboratory testing related to bituminous binders, residues, coagulation, and sedimentation.
- Capture and verify analytical results for accuracy.
- Compile certificates of analysis for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
- Store samples in an organized manner to maintain traceability and record-keeping requirements.
Data Management:
- Reconcile bitumen usage by comparing theoretical vs. actual usage and documenting any discrepancies.
- Maintain and update the laboratory asset register and laboratory equipment calibrations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain laboratory consumable stock levels to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
- Compile laboratory reports summarizing findings and results for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Relevant education or experience in laboratory testing and quality control.
- Familiarity with bituminous materials and related testing methods.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data management and record-keeping.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adherence to housekeeping standards and laboratory safety protocols.
