The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is calling on unemployed graduates in South Africa to apply for its Internship Programme for 2023. The programme is set to run from January to December 2024, during which successful applicants will be assigned to a department at the SARB Head Office and exposed to various tasks and projects.

Throughout the programme, graduates will attend several learning interventions at the SARB Academy, which mainly focus on central banking and aim to develop well-rounded central bankers. Graduates will also receive personal and professional training, including assertive communication, public speaking, impactful reporting, teamwork, personal excellence, and etiquette.

At the end of the programme, successful graduates will be permanently appointed to a department of the SARB.

To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold a postgraduate qualification in one of the following fields: Economics, Econometrics, Research, Policy Analysis, Public Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Statistics, Financial Management, Information Technology, Law, Portfolio or Investment Management, Mathematics, Quantitative Analysis, Business Analysis, Project Management, Risk Management (Operational and Financial Risk), Treasury, or International Relations.

Applicants must have completed a postgraduate degree, be South African citizens, possess a strong desire to work in financial services and/or policy making, have a proven track record of academic excellence, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be curious and keen learners.
